US Senate passes bill to permit gas pipe in Alaska's Denali park? “Take advantage of the existing utility corridor, preventing disturbances to wildlife and environmental impacts on undisturbed lands further to the east or west of the park boundary.” That says it all! Not only will it be less cost to build but less of an impact on wildlife and the land. Make it so! Whatever the size or shape of the vehicle, vehicle manufactures Produce and the population ‘Drives’ vehicles with high MPG, are very safe, reliable, have a ‘reasonable’ cost and a good ‘value’ for the money. The price of fuel at the pump is too high! XII/XXII/MMXII! - The Day After......

That's Lisa's story and she's sticking to it!
A shame as it defeats the whole puppose of our Denali National Park. Now some scheming Canadian pipeline corporations will pull an end play and piggyback on to this to get caustic Alberta tar sands bitumen to a sea port and on its way to China. How does this all benefit All of us in the USA?

Once again everyone, understand that "Drill, baby, drill!" is code for "Export, baby, export!" Liquified natural gas is selling for a premium on the overseas market. The customers in this country won't see one BTU of that natural gas.

I don't know if burying a gas line is such a great idea in Alaska. The permafrost is melting and causing the land to buckle and sink. Roads out there are starting to look like roller coaster rides.

Didn't the Senate just, like, get sworn in with new members? So, they just pass a bill without discussing it? Ho-kay!

doesn't sound like a good idea. Just spend the extra coin and build around the park. I mean National Parks are protected land for a reason.

Remarkable... the democratically controlled senate actually passed a bill that does not SHI... on the rest of the population. Now if they could only pass a budget as required by law for the first time in more than 4 years... then that would really be news.

I know we need the oil. However, Denali is a magnificent park & wildlife preserve. It would diminish a national treasure if there are adverse effects on the environment or wildlife.

It's all wait and see. We need the gas and some way to get it down south. So it makes sense to put it through an existing corridor. As for leaks - there's always a danger. So just do it safely!

A "pipeline through Denali" sounds more shocking than the reality. At least someone is using their head and plan to limit the impact of this pipeline by keeping it within an existing right of way.
