TransCanada says Keystone XL will not affect climate, the project will have NO measurable effect on global warming? REALLY? No Measurable Effect On Global Warming? AMAZING! The project will have minimal effect but burning that oil will. Canadian Oil transported to the refineries on the Gulf Coast will be refined into fuel and sold on the world market for higher prices. There will be no cheaper fuel prices in the US or Canada. The US ‘oil and natural gas resources’ belong to the citizens of this country and are to be used by those same citizens! The price at the pump needs to go down to $2/gallon - *$3, *$3.50/gallon or *$4.00 is Not the new low! More Refineries are Not the answer, Stop exporting fuel is! Take care of the domestic fuel market first and above all else! Drive vehicles with high MPG, are very safe, reliable, have a ‘reasonable’ cost and a good ‘value’ for the money. The price of fuel at the pump is too high!

If only a more neutral person was interviewed rather than, Alex Pourbaix, TransCanada's president for energy and oil pipelines, the article might have some weight.
As it stands when Pourbaix says, "...opponents of the proposed Keystone XL pipeline have grossly inflated its likely impact on emissions of greenhouse gases that contribute to global warming." He destroys his credibility.

So we should build the Northern Gateway pipeline instead. And ship our oil to China.

Conventional high-explosive bombs were also quite efficient at making Germany and Japan into a place where no stone was left standing on top of another one. The A-bomb did have a greater "shock and awe" value, however. They're so darn efficient that nobody has since dared to use an A-bomb in combat again.

Well, the world experienced a couple of A bombs dropped on Japan at the end of WW-II so, my guess is a pipe laying in ground like a dead man surely will not be any worse. It is more likely the hot air emanating from DC is the real climate changer to be feared because it is far more polluted than A bombs or pipes laying covered in the ground.

so why no just refine the oil in Canada? "The province also has imposed a carbon tax, an action the Obama administration has said it will not propose."
I think we should okay the pipeline, but ban export of the gas.
