Pennsylvania Lt. Governor Cawley Says Marcellus Shale Benefitting Erie County

Melodika -- Lt. Governor Jim Cawley today touted the positive impact that natural gas is having in Erie County. Although there are not many natural gas wells near Erie, Cawley spoke about how it is benefitting the area, through cleaner air, job growth and economic assistance.

Standing in front of a natural-gas powered bus from the Erie Metro Transportation Authority (EMTA), Cawley said the cleaner, cheaper alternative to diesel fuel is helping the authority reduce costs and protect the environment.

"Here we are, miles from the nearest well site and Marcellus Shale is providing clean, affordable energy for the people of Erie County. Governor Corbett and I see Pennsylvania leading our nation to energy independence," Cawley said.

Look what the nuke "too cheap to meter" promise has given us. TMI is still sitting semi-melted down with no clean up. The next bomb is ticking at 100 other locations. Once the water is poisoned, it can't be reclaimed.

Ask anyone who has got a job converting bus engines from diesel to natural gas. Also the bus company had to build a natural gas filling station and the contractor employed several trades. I forgot the engineering company that designed the filling station. And last the natural gas company had to extend the natural gas line to that location and now they have a larger volume customer.

We need to make more use of it. So many sources like free flowing water are deemed to small to use for generating electricity, as they were in days gone by. That way, you don't think they only come down on one side of the issues surrounding energy. With real issues there should be real debate, not just political posturing. More importantly, are there real problems and can there be real solutions. Are any scientists and engineers trying to find solutions to the issues with shale oil? That is something that seems lacking in the reporting on this issue.
