@evowner, say what?
Just look where we are now under these 'progressive' ideas.
23,000,000 out of work. Record high food stamp recipients. $16,000,000,000,000 in debt. A third of that in just 3.5 years under 'progressive' ideology. Record bankruptcy rates. Record mortgage defaults. Tax increases on EVERYBODY with Obamacare.
Yet liberal progressives can't see the damage they bring on our country. Pathetic.

Good for Oregon & Washington States, two states that have been very proactive in pushing for more efficient vehicles and work-at-home (as in high tech companies).

This study proves (pick one of the following): A. nothing B. Sightline had nothing better to do with their time. C. that Eastern Washington has clear skies and minds as compared to Western Washington.
Where did your other article go that I commented on?

What's the national average? 7 sounds really low, but 10 doesn't seem like much either. But that is 12 bucks after tax per week savings at current prices, while the 7 gallons cost a lot more today than 10 did when that was the average.
I thought I saw another article submitted by teafortwo, but I can't find it now. What gives?

That's the real question gandalfthegrey1. And the answer behind door number 1.....
The people of Washington have voted themselves into such a horrible state economy they can no longer afford that extra 1/2 a gallon per day.

Then why don't prices go down? Hasn't anyone in the Northwest ever read an economics textbook? Or are they just ignoring supply-and-demand?

No doubt, Portland's investment in its excellent public transit system has contributed to this.

Is this due to a major increase in unemployment or decrease in vacationers from other parts of the U.S.?

higher prices makes for less driving and maybe people drive only to work and work is not 20 miles away.. maybe they are shopping local and not accross town.. good for them

With the conditions we have been going through, high gas prices and low market, there sure is no surprise that sales are going down.

Hope the big gas producers see this information nor at least know of it. Maybe they will find a way to et those prices down.

When I drove in Oregon I also noticed that speed limit is much lower than around here, most highways are limited at 55 and nobody goes even 10 mph above the speed limit.

i thought cars were outlawed in those green states anyway-10 speed bicycles only..
at least when two 10 speeds hit each other, the carnage can't be as bad..

Maybe, but it hasn't led to less driving as the article states - at least not in the Seattle-Tacoma metro area where are traffic jams are becoming notorious. And with less gas tax revenue, our roads just plain suck!
