Most of the "new" natural gas is being exported!

bvrbill - "We need to see more natural gas powered vehicles and fueling stations. A Chevy Volt can't move freight. A natural gas powered truck, can."
Imagine a semi tractor with a 140-hp electric motor in each of four drive wheels, some batteries and a matched engine/generator with a bit more power than needed to keep a loaded truck moving at 70 mph.

southrob said, "what would help alot on the gas price would be to drill on federal land"
Actually, no it wouldn't. All of this natural gas flooding the market is shale gas which is predominantly found in the eastern U.S. The vast majority of federal land is out west.
Don't be greedy. Leave the federal land alone. Leave someplace for our grandchildren to drill.

Once again, judgemobile, there is no switch in the Oval Office that controls fuel prices in this country.
If you want to blame someone, go to the source, namely Big Oil.

I'm intrigued by the idea of natural gas powered 18-wheelers but how big would the fuel tanks have to be? Natural gas requires much larger tanks than those used for diesel. Would that drastically reduce the volume of freight that can be handled per trailer?

We need to use more natural gas. Chesapeake is leading the way, spending lots of money to innovate new uses for natural gas.

Use NG for fixed heating and electric and gas for transportation. We have enough oil for 200 more years right here in the USA....

Bad link.
NG needs infrastructure to become a widely available resource.
I hope the suppliers get busy soon. Vehicles will follow.
Will speculators ruin this affordable commodity too? Most likely they will.
