yes and i generally prefer it. depends on the car type and the driving situation/conditions. sequential manual with paddles like VW's DSG is extra nice.

looking at this poll surprises me. of all the people i've talked to, i'd say less than a third can drive stick, and in the younger age groups it's even lower. i see almost all yes here. weird...

Yes I can. I prefer a automatic but the thought has crossed my mind to go back to the stick to save gas.

Yes, and I prefer it. Five vehicles, all manual transmission. Better economy, more fun, better control, cuts down on vehicle borrowers. Hard to find a new vehicle on the lot with a manual, though.

Yes, that's what I took my driving test in at 16. But driving a stickshift in Houston can frazzel the best of nerves and build up the leg muscles that look better than the Hulk. I prefer an automatic when driving with the crazies on the freeway here.

Yes, I prefer a stickshift, more fuel efficient. Taught all of my kids to drive manual. Learned on a vw beetle.

I prefer a manual . . . better control, better fuel economy. And it is $1000 cheaper than an automatic. The concept of spending $1000 to waste fuel is too hard for me to consider.

I learned on a stick and used to prefer it. But now, because of physical problems with my shoulders I have to drive automatics.

I am not allowed to drive yet, but-

I would like to learn, since some of the best-looking cars have stickshifts.
