It is sad that the poor economy and high gas prices kept so many away from their family during the holiday.

my place is the 'hub'. everyone makes it here to drop off and pick up gifts or to just say hi and have special holiday french toast for breakfast before going on elsewhere. folks drop in all day; there's always great food and good company. plus, i'm right on the beach! why leave <smile>!

It is either go to WI to see the kids or spend Christmas alone. It is 800 miles each way. We got lucky with the weather. We had only 1000 feet of ice the entire trip.

Travelled a total of app. 1000 km in 5 days.
I live in Haliburton and all of my relations are in the Toronto & Kitchener & Mississaga area. Cost me about $90 for gas.

3400 miles roundtrip between Washington and Minnesota. Split the cost with one other person and took a tiny car... still soooo expensive. It was still cheaper than flying though, especially considering we had two dogs with us who otherwise would have had to be boarded or something.

Less than 100 miles. Heck, I could not afford a tree this year, much less a vacation to visit family or friends! Get used to higher gasoline prices, with the Republicans back in charge of the House or Senate prices always have historically gone up. Don't believe me?… Look it up!

I want Americans to start building compact station wagon again. Maybe we could actually drive somewhere during the holidays, with our luggage and our dog. I know it doesn't sound too sexy, but look at the Audi A-4 Avant (wagon) or the VW Jetta Wagon with a new, clean-running, quiet Diesel Wagon. Plenty of room without the high ride height of a SUV, which kills the aerodynamics. Europeans love small, Sport Wagons and 5 door hatchbacks. Yes, there was a time I would rather walk than drive a wagon/hatchback…but that was long before 3 to 4 or $5 dollars a gallon gas. Let's be as smart as the Europeans before we wind up with their gas prices.

Seriously, be good to each other, be polite on the road and have a wonderful, safe 2011!!!

Went to visit my brother for the 2nd time this year about 180 miles away. Couldn't have done it if I hadn't gotten a gas gift card.
