rogerp: you're right. B/c no one cares anymore about what they build. It's a job that pays the bills so we all can have more STUFF.

it's only after the government forced Ford to recall that they ended up doing this. That's the second recall of vehicles in a short time (the others were 2001-2004 models).
Goes to show how shoddy production has become since no one takes pride in their work anymore.

At least they admit there is a problem and they are going to fix it.

Fix the problem bug bites ASAP, make sure people know they are driving a quality vehicle and a company that cares about their safety! Not a vehicle that will catch a mat with the foot and could race out of control at high speeds. Things happen! Install oak wood floors instead? My vehicle still runs good, its paid for, gets decent MPG and I will Not be replacing it with anything else and certainly not with a Ford Escape SUV! I will drive my current vehicle into the ground before buying anything new, used, EV, Inbred, diesel, hydrogen, alternative fuel, CNG, concept or anything else. Whatever the size or shape of the vehicle, Produce and ‘Drive’ vehicles with high MPG, are very safe, reliable, have a ‘reasonable’ cost and a good ‘value’ for the money. Consider using other forms of less expensive transportation to lower your cost. The price of fuel at the pump is too high! 12/22/2012

It is good that Ford is being proactive with this and not waiting for any injuries or accidents before taking ownership of a potential problem.

All automakers have had recalls. Seems like they would put extra effort into doing it right the first time.

good that they are doing something about it, not good that it was designed and built that way.

Sheesh, you'd think manufacturers would figure out how to secure their carpet after the Toyota fiasco a few years ago.
