interesting that there's something that seems to be going for the consumer in CA for once.

mergers in the refinery space are definitely anti-consumer and anti-competitive. blocking should be automatic

Allowing new energy sources to develop under a free enterprise system would take care of the problem. Unfortunately, we don't have a free market, too much gov't control and crony capitalism. The other big problem is the lack of refineries, which is not at all easy to solve, nobody wants to live in an area that by simply breathing in the air can give you cancer.

If California waived their gas tax for a time, their avg price would stand at $4.00. Put that in your medical marijuana pipe and smoke it.

Yesterdays news.. "If the purchase goes through, Tesoro and Chevron will between them own more than half of California's fuel refining capacity, including the three largest refineries in the state.
It doesn't make any difference who owns the refiner, just as long as they can run it with some efficiency. Cali need to get off the blend gas for awhile..

Weird things happen in California. Could it be the water, or just the mentality of the population?

Hopefully they keep working on electric and get the reliability up and the cost down. Decreasing the need for gas is the best solution but I know I wouldn't be able to spring for an electric anytime soon.
