I had to transfer to the Air Guard to get promoted. After 6 years as an Army SP4, I thought I'd give the Air Guard a chance. I'm now a CMSgt and have been since 2003.

Just north of Udorn at a listening post, the 7th RRFS at Nong Soong. We were 30 miles from Laos and about the same from Udorn. We would go to Udorn on our days off to use their BX and library. As Army guys, the big thing was to watch the F4s take off loaded with bombs and return empty. I was 19 at the time and didn't take advantage of the opportunity to see the country, as I should and could have. I did take 3 days R&R with a friend and we explored Bangkok.

I hope you accept the request. I was in Thailand with the Army (ASA) in 73. Got out in 76 and took a 7 year break before joining the IL Army Guard. 2 1/2 years later went to the IL Air Guard and have been there ever since. I hope to get a little over 2 years more and retire at 60. Should have 35 years total service by then, if my calculations are correct. Thanks for your service. Take care and be safe.
