Poll: Obama Dodges Blame for Gas Prices

Bloomberg BusinessWeek -- On Monday I wrote about how the White House, in releasing its energy progress report and going on the TV news circuit to talk about it, was trying to deflect attention from Republicans’ latest attack line: blaming the Obama administration for rising prices at the pump.

Guess what? It turns out that most Americans don’t actually blame the President for the high gas prices—at least so far. This, according to a Bloomberg National Poll out today. (More on the poll from my colleague Mike Dorning). Sixty-six percent of the 1,002 adults surveyed say that “the oil companies and Middle East nations who are taking advantage of [tensions with Iran] to make more money” are most responsible for higher gas prices.

No surprist - he hasn't taken responsibility for anything. He thinks the economy still belongs to Bush. (Bush who?)

Gas prices are high due to a lot of factors...no good reasoning, but not just 1 person is to blame.

Back in 2008 the Democrats had no problem throwing President Bush under the bus and don't forget Senator Obama when he was campaigning for President trying to link Sen. McCain to high gas prices.

Ditto to sit. The President is charming and a great talker. He is a good singer and knows his sports. Unfortunately, these are great qualities for our favorite uncle but not for the leader of our nation.

"I don't know why I bother reading these posts. So many ignorant repubs in here that just want to point the finger at "that damn black president who ruins everything," it's quite sickening. I'm not a blind Obama follower by any means, but at least I'm not a blind Obama hater"

Yep, typical Obama supporter. When your Prez gets attacked by the media and fed-up Americans, you pull the race card.

That's what he does best, blaming others.. Funny how he was blaming Bush for high gas prices just a few years ago.. Guess he can dish it out, but can't take it..

Big oil, Middle East, OPEC, the President and Congress and most of all Wall Street those are where the blame should be

But in actuality, the blame lies with CIF issuers on Wall Street. Ban those CIFs and prices would power dive into the $20-30 range with pump price below $2/gal.

It is the speculators who are the problem. Make them pay for commodities up front instead of paying a small aount on futures this will slow down the prices. Bidding for futures just. Makes speculators rich and if they cannot cover thier losses when things go wrong they pass those losses to the rest of us.

congress and obummer administration continues to do nothing regarding the price of oil and gas. how about a heavy windfall profit tax on the oil companies. sounds good but you know they will just pass it on to the consumer.
