Crude oil inventories decreased by 0.4 million barrels
Gasoline inventories decreased 1.8 million barrels
Distillate inventories decreased by 0.3 million barrels
Refinery utilization decreased to 83.1%
Production of ethanol decreased to 87,000 barrels per day
And the fuel price at the pump continues to be too high!
There is NO supply and demand in process here.

curlypooh: you might want to check your price quote. November 2008 the gas prices were just starting to come down the incredible near $5/gallon gas. I have not seen a lot of times where gas went under 1.50 in the past 5 years.

Why bombard us with this. It doesn't matter what oil is doing, which is probably rising, as gas just keeps going out.

Not good news again and I see that the refineries and speculators are in cahoots again. The refineries have cut production way back and have helped drive the prices for oil and gas back up!

The inventory levels are still above last year's levels and the prices are climbing. This is nuts.

I 'm not very interested in daily price changes, just trends. We need to enjoy todays low prices, because they certainly won't be low for too many more years.

That's all DOE is good for-- reports. They had a mandate to make us energy independent, so much for that goal.

Takes out some of the reasoning for the latest increases in prices at the pump. Weak dollar and speculation are the main culprits.

It seems like there should be a better way. Actually if I had my way gas would be 10 bucks a gallon, only then would the selfish majority of us Americans get serious about conservation. I am in a car pool and I drive a hybrid so $10 gas would not hurt too much.

And the only reason for increases are speculators hedging on the commodities once again. Trickle down from government not doing its jobs.

Yes, it looks like the gas price increase is mostly due to the dollar sucking, not due to supply & demand issues.

Inventory stocks for oil, gasoline and diesel fuel are still far higher than the levels required. Indeed, these stocks could drop further without appreciable resultant effect. Our issues are with the value of the US Dollar versus other currencies. Have you noticed how high the price at the pump has become over the last three weeks?
